Time series of enstrophy and azimuthal field in the midplane for run S2, of moderate resistivity. By action of the magneto-elliptic instability, the field initially grows inside the vortex. Due to the resistivity, it then diffuses away from the vortex, coupling to the waves excited by it. At later times, exponential growth of the field is seen in the wake. The vortex itself appears unmagnetized.
