Planetary masses as a function of their orbital periods for planets with known masses. Planets detected by ground-based photometric searches are plotted with yellow, RV surveys with green, CoRoT detections with red, and Kepler detections with blue points. Point sizes represent the temperature of the parent stars. The dash-dotted lines delineate the boundaries of the Neptunian desert, as derived below.
