QSO number counts of SDSS spectroscopic QSOs and KiDS QSO candidates (QSO_cand) at progressing classification probability cuts, excluding the unsafe inference subset. The dashed lines show eBOSS predictions fitted with a broken power law. The SDSS spectroscopic QSOs are complete to r < 19. KiDS QSO candidates without a probability cut are too numerous at r > 21.5 due to misclassification, and they follow standard Euclidean number counts. A cut at p(QSO_cand) > 0.9 gives a complete catalog in the safe subset (r < 22). A cut at p(QSO_cand) > 0.98 provides expected number counts up to r ≲ 24.
