Vertical profiles of the temperature with depth for different insolation conditions on the equatorial plane of a comet with a spherical nucleus. Coupled cases with sublimation fronts at the same depth ( cm) are labelled as “Coupled 1,” while coupled cases with sublimation fronts at different depths (1.4 cm and 5.6 cm) are labeled as “Coupled 2.” Decoupled mode calculations are shown with dashed and dashed-dotted lines for H2O and CO2, respectively.
