The terms ‘coupled-past’ and ‘coupled-future’ stand for the historical and future simulations of the coupled models and the terms ‘atmos-past’ and ‘atmos-future’ stand for the atmosphere-land models, respectively. The ensemble member identifiers ‘ripf’, e.g. r1i1p2f1, stand for realisation ‘r’, initialisation ‘i’, physics ‘p’ and forcing ‘f’ (Taylor et al. 2018). The realisation defines the initial conditions. The initialisation distinguishes between different initialisation procedures. The physics parameter indicates the physics schemes used.
