NLTE (brown) and LTE (cyan) abundance trends as a function of [Fe/H] for [Mg/Fe], [Si/Fe], and [Ca/Fe] estimated for 44 solar neighborhood M giants (circles show NLTE and inverted triangle shows LTE) and six nearby M giants (stars show NLTE and hexagon show LTE). The difference between NLTE and LTE measurements for Si is negligible, and Mg and Ca show differences of 0.05–0.15 dex.
