Time series of the axisymmetric toroidal ($E_{B,\mathrm{tor}}^{m=0}$, blue solid line), axisymmetric poloidal ($E_{B,\mathrm{pol}}^{m=0}$, green solid line), and dipolar ($E_{B,\mathrm{dip}}$, blue solid line) components of the magnetic energy densities for runs at N/Ω_o = 0.1, which were initialised with a pure magnetic dipole (weak initial $B_{\varphi }^{m=0}$, plot on the left) and a pure axisymmetric toroidal magnetic field (strong initial $B_{\varphi }^{m=0}$, plot on the right). The quantities were converted in physical units by fixing r_o = 12 km, ρ = 4.1 × 10¹⁴ g cm⁻³, and N = 1 kHz.
