Colour–magnitude diagram of confirmed AMCVn-type binaries in this catalogue. Points are coloured according to their orbital periods. Also plotted are volume-limited samples of main sequence stars and white dwarfs, drawn randomly from Gaia DR3. The AM CVntype systems follow a Z-shaped pattern pointed out by van Roestel et al. (2022): short period systems are elevated above the white dwarf sequence because they are dominated by the accretion disc, while longer-period systems follow a white dwarf cooling sequence.
