The chaos induced by the Galactic bar on the orbits of nearby halo stars

Distribution of nearby halo stars in E−L_z (top row) and L_⊥−L_z (bottom row) at t = 0 and after 10 Gyr of evolution in our fiducial Milky Way potential including a rotating bar. Especially highly bound stars with L_z ∼ 0 (and small L_⊥) change their distribution significantly.
