Schema of the setup used to characterize the polarimetric visible-light channel of the Metis coronagraph. An extended spatially uniform light source and a LP were placed in front of the instrument to generate a uniformly polarized light beam. The frame of reference used to analyze the data is shown in the polarimeter schema, together with the axis of maximum transmittance of all the polarizing elements involved in the setup.
