The horizontal green line at the bottom left of every image represents a scale of 10 kpc. The image cutouts were chosen, when possible, to avoid the presence of other galaxies in the images, while balancing the need to include enough background to produce meaningful statistics. Contaminating bright sources were sigma-clipped and not taken into account in the estimation.
