Comparison of the CPL (blue lines, under different dissipation functions) and CTL (orange lines, under different time lags) tidal heating models assuming the physical parameters and semi-major axis of the Jupiter-Europa system. The effective temperature of the moon is derived from tidal heating as a function of the moon’s assumed eccentricity. The purple band shows the region where water can exist in a liquid form.
