Comparison of X-ray properties of the eFEDS AGN included in our analysis. In all panels the eFEDS AGN that are also classified as AGN by our variability-based selection are shown in blue and those where our classification resulted in a non-variable galaxy type are shown in pink. The histograms are normalised to the total number of objects in each set, which is four times larger for the AGN class. All the X-ray properties are collected from the literature and are explained in Liu et al. (2022).
