Chemical equations for two possible reactions that could lead to the removal of the CH3 group from toluene. The dot above the molecule or atom indicates a radical species. (i) corresponds to the formation of methane and a cyclohexyl radical. (ii) corresponds to the formation of cyclohexane along with the ejection of a •CH3 radical.
