The satellite distribution in θL and φr for the Milky Way (Top) and TNG50 501208 (Botton) illustrating the definition of fSat,vertical and ξSat,φ. The parameter fSat,vertical is defined as the fraction of satellites with θL < 45°. We fit the distribution of φr with a sine function n = n1 sin(2φr + φ0) + n0. The parameter ξsat,φ = n1/n0 is defined to describe the anisotropy of satellite galaxies distributed in azimuthal angle φr.
