Time evolution of mass transfer. We separate all mass the material lost from the secondary white dwarf (ΔMsecondary), the mass gained by the primary white dwarf (ΔMprimary), the mass only associated with the binary system as a whole (Mfluff), and the unbound material Munbound. Before the explosion, about 3 × 10−3 M⊙ have become unbound already.
