Table 1
Galaxies showing artificial star formation in different disk regions and epochs.
| Epoch | Outer (2.6-3.4 hd) | Middle (1.4-2.2 hd) | Inner (0.2-1.0 hd) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10+ Gyr ago | 80% (147) | 45% (85) | 3% (5) |
| 8-10 Gyr ago | 37% (69) | 6% (11) | 0% (0) |
| 6-8 Gyr ago | 23% (43) | 3% (5) | 2% (3) |
| <4 Gyr ago | 20% (37) | 15% (27) | 30% (56) |
Notes. A galaxy is counted in a given region and epoch if it exhibits SFRbirth = 0 while SFRfinal > 0, indicating that stars currently located in that region appear to have formed there, although they actually migrated from elsewhere. This illustrates how radial migration can bias spatially resolved star formation history estimates.
Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.
Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
