Table 2
Normal vibrational modes of C2H2 (Chubb 2018).
| Label | Normal mode | Description |
|---|---|---|
| ν1 | ![]() |
CH symmetric stretching and infrared inactivity |
| ν2 | ![]() |
CC symmetric stretching and infrared inactivity |
| ν3 | ![]() |
CH antisymmetric stretching and infrared activity |
| ν4 | ![]() |
Symmetric bending, infrared inactivity, and doubly degenerate |
| ν5 | ![]() |
Antisymmetric bending, infrared activity and doubly degenerate |
Notes. The table lists the five fundamental modes: symmetric and anti-symmetric stretching and bending. The ν1, ν4 and ν5 modes are infrared inactive due to their symmetry, while the ν3 and ν5 modes are infrared active. The bending modes, ν4 and ν5, are doubly degenerate, contributing to the overall vibrational spectrum of the molecule.
Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.
Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
