Orientation of the orbital angular momentum in the observer reference frame. The orbital angular momentum vector L ̂ f $ {{\hat{L}_{\text{f}}}} $ and a vector pointing from the center of mass of the binary to the ascending node Ω ̂ f $ {{\hat{\Omega}_{\text{f}}}} $ orient the post-explosion orbit of the visible star. Both L ̂ f $ {{\hat{L}_{\text{f}}}} $ and O ̂ $ \hat{O} $ are perpendicular to Ω ̂ f $ {{\hat{\Omega}_{\text{f}}}} $, but are not perpendicular to each other. In the particular case shown here Ω ̂ f · W ̂ > 0 $ {{\hat{\Omega}_{\text{f}}}}\cdot \hat{W} > 0 $, such that Ω f = 2 π arccos ( Ω ̂ f · N ̂ ) $ {{\Omega_{\text{f}}}} = 2\pi-\arccos({{\hat{\Omega}_{\text{f}}}}\cdot \hat{N}) $.
