The plot shows the probability density function (p[(g′−i′)0]) as a function of the (g′−i′)0 color for NGC 4709 (black line), NGC 4696 (blue line) and the rectangular region between them (red line) shown in red in Fig.3. The three color distributions are normalized so that the area of each histogram is equal to 1.
