eRASS1 broadband maps in Galactic coordinates from Zheng et al. (2024) in the energy bands 0.4–0.6 keV (red), 0.6–1.0 keV (green), and 1.0–2.3 keV (blue). Some prominent extended sources are labeled, including the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). The nearby bright Fornax cluster lies in a particularly benign X-ray background region, optimally placed for studies of its low surface brightness outskirts.
