Trend in disk-averaged inflow with cold gas mass. The ratio of the disk-averaged radial to rotational velocity, ⟨Vr⟩/⟨Vrot⟩, is plotted against the total cold gas mass in the disk, Md (in logarithmic units), with the blue, round points for the VELA disk galaxy sample. Red squares indicate the median values within bins of log[Md], with the vertical error bars highlighting the 16th − 84th percentile ranges and the horizontal error bars showing the bin widths. On average, with increase in Md, the magnitude of ⟨Vr⟩/⟨Vrot⟩ slightly decreases. The correlation, however, is quite weak, with a Spearman rank correlation coefficient of 0.2.
