Trend in disk-averaged inflow with cold gas mass. The ratio of the disk-averaged radial to rotational velocity, ⟨V_r⟩/⟨V_rot⟩, is plotted against the total cold gas mass in the disk, M_d (in logarithmic units), with the blue, round points for the VELA disk galaxy sample. Red squares indicate the median values within bins of log[M_d], with the vertical error bars highlighting the 16^th − 84^th percentile ranges and the horizontal error bars showing the bin widths. On average, with increase in M_d, the magnitude of ⟨V_r⟩/⟨V_rot⟩ slightly decreases. The correlation, however, is quite weak, with a Spearman rank correlation coefficient of 0.2.
