Distance at which accreted stars begin to dominate, rcross, for all galaxies in our sample (black dots) as a function of stellar mass (left panel) and virial mass (right panel). For comparison, we show its median (solid white line), the median stellar half-mass radius, r50, * (dashed green line), and the median stellar half-mass radius of the adopted galaxy radius, rglx (solid black line). The typical galactocentric distance beyond which most stars are accreted is ∼8 times larger than the stellar half-mass radius, and close to the galaxy radius definition, rglx = 0.25 r200.
Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.
Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
