Illustration of the adaptive Gaussian pruning strategy. The intersection of all visual cones from different viewpoints contributes to define the external shape of the asteroid by eliminating the 3D Gaussian primitives outside the dilated masks. Statistical filtering facilitates the refinement of the internal shape by removing discrete primitives within the asteroid.
