Properties of MBH binaries and their host galaxies, for systems dominating the background and CW candidates. From top to bottom, we show distributions of chirp mass, redshift and stellar mass of the host galaxy. The teal dotted histogram shows the distribution in the box volume (140 cMpc)3, the green histogram shows the simulation lightcone that models the galaxy distribution as seen by an observer, while the red hatched histogram shows CW candidates (‘CW cand’), with the gray histogram highlighting the high probability ones. In these distributions, we include CW candidates accounting for their multiplicity across Universe realizations.
