Illustration of the proposed model for the jet structure in OJ 287. The helical magnetic field within the jet drives the formation of filamentary structures through K-H instabilities, which interact with plane-perpendicular shocks propagating downstream. These interactions enhance emission at specific locations, leading to the formation of distinct jet components observed in total intensity and polarization. Different features have a different color coding (see colors at the sides).

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
