Color gradients as a function of redshift for quiescent galaxies in four stellar mass bins and color-coded with global AV. The top row shows the U − V color gradients (Δ(U − V) = (U − V)1 < r/Re < 2 − (U − V)r < Re), and the bottom row shows the V − J color gradients (Δ(V − J) = (V − J)1 < r/Re < 2 − (V − J)r < Re). The black error bars in the lower left (right) corner of each panel show the median uncertainty on the color gradients for all the galaxies in that stellar mass bin with z < 1.5 (z > 1.5). The solid black lines show the running median, and the dashed lines show the 16−84 percentile range. The squares show the median color in redshift bins with a width of 0.25, and the (generally negligible) error bars represent the statistical uncertainty σ / N $ \sigma/\sqrt{N} $. Both colors show a mild stellar mass dependence and a mild or absent redshift evolution. Just galaxies with M < 1010.5 M show a significant evolution of Δ(V − J) with redshift.

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.

Initial download of the metrics may take a while.
