Gap-opening efficiency factor G, normalized to the adiabatic 2D model value $G_{adb}^{2 D}$ $G_{{\rm{adb}}}^{2{\rm{D}}}$ , as a function of the cooling timescale β for our fully radiative models (green) and those with local, β cooling (purple), finding a good agreement between 2D and 3D models. Local β cooling overestimates G compared to fully radiative models.
