Motion of nearby stars in the plane of the sky, as measured by Gaia. Each arrow represent the proper motion (direction and modulus) of a star at a certain position. Only stars within a 3′ radius and a p ± 2σp parallax range are shown. The differential parallax between V4641 Sgr and individual stars is color-coded. The black arrow corresponds to the direction of the average proper motion.
