Measurement of the velocity width Δv90 of the absorption line profile of Fe II λ1125 in the mock spectrum for the galaxy h026 taken at z = 2.01. The spectrum is obtained along the line of sight at an impact parameter b = 1.5 kpc. Upper panel: normalized total apparent optical depth, the dashed vertical lines show the velocity range between 5% and 95% of the total apparent optical depth (lower panel). The resulting Δv90 is 61 km s−1.
