Table B.1.
Best-fit spectral parameters for the extended halo region of ESO 338-4 from the XMM-Newton data.
| Model parameter | Best-fit value |
|---|---|
| tbabsGal × (APEC1 + APEC2) | |
| kT1 (keV) | 0.4 ± 0.1 |
| Norm1 (cm−3) | (8 ± 3)×10−6 |
| kT2 (keV) | 4 ± 1 |
| Norm2 (cm−3) | (2.0 ± 0.2)×10−5 |
| C-statistic | 178 |
| d.o.f | 139 |
| pnull | 0.021 |
| tbabsGal × (APEC+ const × (Point-source contribution)) | |
| kT (keV) | 0.32 ± 0.04 |
| Norm (cm−3) | (2.0 ± 0.3)×10−6 |
| Factor | (5.8 ± 0.4)×10−2 |
| C-statistic | 177 |
| d.o.f | 140 |
| pnull | 0.026 |
Notes. Two alternative models are shown: (i) a two-component thermal plasma (APEC1+APEC2) and (ii) a single plasma component plus a point-source contamination term. Both models yield statistically comparable fits, consistent with the analysis presented in Sect. 2.4. The Galactic foreground absorption was fixed to NH = 5 × 1020 cm−2 using tbabsGal.
