Schematic of the Mordor ultra-high vacuum chamber and instrumentation suite as viewed looking from above the chamber. Thin films are deposited on the cryogenically cooled QCM by controlled introduction of gasses into the chamber through dedicated dosers (3). Rotation of the QCM stage (7) allows for alignment with various instruments mounted on ports at the chamber periphery, including the UV-visible spectrometer (4) and the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer (2 and 5) used in this study.
