Variance (Varp) calculated for Encounter 23. For most of each encounter, the variance remains small, less than 1 V. Each encounter has an average maximum (Varp) of approximately 2 V at closest approach, which is ∼10−15% of the measured spacecraft floating potential value. Features in the variance from 50 RS − 55 RS are likely due to the instrument mode transitioning from out-of-encounter to in-encounter.
