Trajectory of the sub-solar point from E-2 days to the encounter epoch. The red pentagram marks the moment of encounter, the red triangle marks the subsolar point two days before, and the blue cross indicates the location of the active center on the large end. The latitude range –90° to –6° defines the large end, –6° to 60° the waist, and 60° to 90° the small end.
