Ice-front depth distribution on the nucleus surface. CO2 ice-front depth is shown for the large and small ends, and H2O ice-front depth is shown for the waist of the nucleus. The nucleus’s attitude and observation direction are set to E+7 minutes to align with the EPOXI observation data. The left graph shows the front side distribution, and the right graph shows the reverse side distribution. The temperature-time variation for facet A on the large end, and the temperature-depth distribution for facet B on the small end, are analyzed further in Figs. 10 and 11, respectively.
