Average of each ellipticity component in bins of the focal plane, for sources in all tomographic bins, relative to the (weighted) dispersion of ellipticities in the same bin. The weighted ellipticity dispersion per component over the bins in the focal plane are 0.287 ± 0.001 and 0.288 ± 0.001, indicating that the observed pattern is not driven by variable ellipticity dispersion across the focal plane. The figures still indicate the presence of the two-dimensional pattern reported in Figure 2 of Hildebrandt et al. (2020).
