Effect of the segment count on the explanation quality. Left: Uniform segmentation with 11, 111, and 943 segments. Right: SLIC segmentation with equivalent upper bounds, yielding 4, 54, and 1058 segments. Having too few segments dilutes key features; having too many adds noise. Intermediate settings yield clearer and more meaningful explanations. The fluxes are median normalized, and the weights are factors of 10−2.
