Explanation weights using flat perturbation values of 0.8, 1.0, and 1.2. The value of 1.0 (third panel; the median-normalized flux) yields coherent results, while deviations (second and fourth panels) introduce spurious continuum weights. The fluxes are median normalized, and the weights are factors of 10−2.
